We always try to have a reliable stock of used and refurbished environmental chambers available for our customers. Environmental chambers are finicky machines to begin with – humidity generation can be complicated and is prone to malfunction – and hard to come by, especially from reputable sources. Depending on your application you will also need to choose between passive humidity generation (i.e. a water pan and display read out) versus active (i.e. push button control the dictates humidity level to within =/-3%). Below is a list of some of the models we currently have in stock in our warehouse in Haverhill, MA.
Caron 6030 environmental test chamber
The Caron 6030 offers a whopping 30 cubic feet of storage space with refrigeration and heating capacity that provide a temperature range from 5°C to 60°C and a humidity range from 20% to 98% RH. It can create repeatable environmental conditions for numerous applications including product shelf life, stability and package testing, light exposure and temperature evaluation studies, electronic component burn-in, TAPPI testing, photostability, plant growth, and insect rearing, among others. These units can be plumbed directly to a water use or used with a condensate recirculating system to provide water for humidity production. Click here for pictures and more info.
Hastest Solutions humidity chamber
Small chamber, huge temperature range: this Hastest Solutions unit has a relatively small chamber space at only 2.8 cubic feet but a truly impressive -40°C to +140°C temperature range. The relatively humidity can be controlled from 30% to 95%. It’s rare to find a unit that can act both as a refrigerator and a heated, high humidity environmental chamber. Caron 6545-1 photostability chamber
Another quality product from Caron. The 6545-1 is smaller than the 6030 and is designed to conduct near UV and visual light testing in a controlled atmosphere. The interior lights are programmable and can be turned on and off by the front mounted control panel. The chamber size is 10.5 cubic feet and the temperature range is a narrow 5°C to 35°C. Humidity is active control and can be set from 40% to 70%. Click here for pictures and more details.
Thermo 3911 refrigerated environmental incubator
This is one of our newest favorites. It’s ideal for a range of applications including drug stability studies, shelf life testing for packaged products, cell culture, and insect and other biological research applications. The Watlow controllers take some getting used to and are not the most intuitive to use, but overall this is a great system and can be equipped with optional accessories like a dehumidification system. Thermo Forma 3950 reach-in incubator
The Thermo 3950 has been a staple for us for many years and is a solid, dependable option. Humidity control is passive, meaning you’ll need to fill an interior water reservoir and depend on the evaporation to for steam generation to moisturize the chamber. The display will show interior chamber humidity but the only way to adjust the RH is to fill or drain the reservoir. The single chamber is 29 cubic feet and the temperature range is ambient +5°C to 60°C. The Thermo 3950 also features CO2 control. Click here for details and pictures.
