Most ultralow freezers are designed with a cascade refrigeration system employing first and second stage compressors with different refrigerants. But the Stirling SU780XLE is driven by a compressor-free, free-piston engine that uses 70% to 75% less energy than compressor-based models to maintain -80°C temperature. In addition to energy savings the fewer moving parts mean less wear and tear and less system maintenance, with minimal periodic maintenance needed. What’s more, the SU780XLE uses 100% natural refrigerants and none of the F-gas refrigerants needed in other ultralow models.
Plus, reduced energy usage means plenty of cost savings for the lab – and these days, who doesn’t want to save money with lower electricity consumption?
The modulated cooling capacity eliminates the on/off cycling of compressors and the 100% adaptive control translates into faster temperature recovery after door opening, with an estimate 35 minute temp recovery time to -80°C.
None of this impedes storage capacity, either: the SU780XLE offers a generous 27.5 cubic feet of storage space, which is even more impressive when you consider the relatively small 34.5” x 36” floor footprint thanks to the thin-wall, high performance vacuum insulated panels and non-HFC polyurethane foam using the Ecomate environmentally friendly blowing agent.
