The acronym “BOD” is short for “Biological Oxygen Demand/Biochemical Oxygen Demand,” a test that determine how fast organisms use up oxygen in a body of water, the oxygen needed for the biochemical degradation of organic material, or the oxygen required to oxidize inorganic materials.
